Bob's Heel Bar

I've decided to focus on Bob's heel bar as the friendly face of Town Street's local vendors so I went down to take some photos.

'Are you Bob?' I asked tentatively to the man sat sunning himself on a chair outside the shop.
'No, that's just what the shop's called.'

But he did own it so I proceeded to explain the project. After some initial suspicion he agreed to let me use the logo for the shop as my badge design and I arranged to visit him later in the week.

I never did get his name though.

New friends

I've received a message from the Armey Tourist Board and we're meeting later today. Interestingly, it's also thrown up some other opportunities and I'm attending a debate on the role of creativity in Armley, with particular relevance to the regeneration process. Unfortunately this won't happen until after I've submitted my final designs for the LS12/13 badge but it means that the project will have been an excellent catalyst in the development of other projects.

Armley Tourist Board

I contacted Jane at Interplay on Armley Ridge Road the other day about I Love West Leeds festival and she told me about The Armley Tourist Board. This organisation seems to champion Armley by organising tea dances and is led by their unofficial Lady Mayoress, Jam Siren. I decided to contact the organisation via My Space after reading a blog hosted by TATB regarding a petition to stop an empty retail outlet being taken over by a bookies. They have done market research in the area relating to people's opinions of the regeneration so I thought it could be useful to ask them a few questions about their findings. More later...

Investigation

My initial proposal is to investigate the impact of the regeneration plans of Leeds City Council on Armley Town Street. Will this make Armley an up-and-coming vibrant place to live or will it become Anytown, UK.

I had a walk down Armley Town Street today to take some pictures of the local shops. It's a Saturday so quite busy and lots of cars and people buzzing about. I've had a few ideas about how my research could translate into badges but I'm gonna look more into the regeneration plans. Probably take some photos early tomorrow when there's not so many people about.
